Motorists Trapped in Vehicles After Head-On Collision

At around 5:50pm on Sunday, March 9th 2014, a head-on collision in Jacksonville left 5 people trapped in the two mangled vehicles while firefighters were forced to use extensive measures to set them free. One witness statement indicated that a white company Chevy, traveling westbound on Beach at a high rate of speed, suddenly swerved across the road into oncoming traffic and smashed head-on with a minivan. Another driver stated that he just managed to swerve out of the way of the oncoming compact, however the minivan behind him was not so lucky.

No information was immediately available on the identities of the accident victims. Extraction efforts included firefights having to cut the top off of the Chevy and peel back one of the doors on the minivan so as to reach and provide emergency care to the victims inside. Once the victims were able to be extracted from their respective vehicles, all 5 were transported to local area hospitals.
