Two Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in Seminole

Three vehicles were involved in a crash that proved fatal in Largo, Florida shortly before 12:30 a.m. on December 25. The accident occurred at 131 st Street North and Park Boulevard as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Florida Highway Patrol identified a 51 year old man as the cause of the accident. He was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Park Boulevard in a 1998 Ford Explorer and collided with a 2009 Hyundai Sonata at the 131 st Street North intersection. A 58 year old woman was driving her mother and father in the second vehicle. The woman died on the scene of the accident and her 84 year old father died an hour later at Bayfront Medical Center. The woman's mother is being treated at the center and remains in critical condition.

The third driver involved was the woman's 23 year old son, also from Largo, who was following his mother in a 2007 Sonata. He sustained only minor injuries after sideswiping his mother's car and running into the wrong-way driver in a head-on collision according to the FHP.

Cause of Accident Remains Unknown

The wrong way driver suffered minor injuries and was sent to Bayfront Medical Center for care as well. An investigation into the accident is ongoing, but the FHP suspects that alcohol played a part in the man driving in the wrong lane.
